A record breaking 412 students from IIT-HOME have qualified JEE Main, the first stage of IIT entrance, and are eligible to appear for JEE Advanced 2016 to be conducted on 22nd May. This is the largest crop of JEE Main qualifying students ever achieved at IIT-HOME and ever produced in the city from the two year integrated program at a single centre of the Institute. The number is likely to rise further as results are still pouring in, with students updating their information and results at the institute.
Arpit Kedia – the topper from IIT-HOME has secured 285 marks out of 360 followed by Somansh Chordia with a score of 277. The next three students from IIT-HOME, namely Charandeep Singh Bagga (276), Saurav Ray (268) and Sourabh Tote (264) constitute the top 4 positions from Nagpur city – all bagged by IIT-HOME. Avani Vivrekar with a score of 256 is the girl topper form IIT-HOME. A total of 9 students from IIT-HOME have secured a score of more than 250, which is benchmarked as a very good score. Further 46 students scored more than 200 marks. The general list cut-off for JEE Main 2016 was declared to be 100, which is lower than 105 last year hinting towards a higher difficulty level of the exam this year.
IIT-HOME Managing Director, Ms. Nisha Kothari said at the official declaration of results, that “The best is yet to come” and that IIT-HOME students are aiming and preparing for much higher results in JEE Advanced. Ms. Nisha Kothari said that her students are capable of achieving higher feats and the Institute is trying its best to support their efforts and deliver great national level results this year.
